Pruning Bonsai Trees

Pruning bonsai trees should be a regular & normal part of your routine, rather than a once in a blue moon, stressful activity. The guide above tells you some of the basics on how to cut the tree while not bafffling you with too much information. I plan to do many for guides on this subject over time.

Pruning Conifers

Not all trees can have their foliage cut with scissors. Trees such as Pine, Juniper & Larch will all go brown at the edges if you cut them with scissors. To avoid this we pull at the foliage with fingers. This is call finger pruning or pinching. The video below shows a Chinese Juniper. Regular finger pruning will make the foliage grow in a really compact manner. Pruning of Pines will be discussed later.
