Bonsai Soil Outdoor Mix

A compost-free mix which is ideally suited to outdoor bonsai trees. Contains a mixture of granular soil media including akadama, pumice, lava and pine bark for excellent drainage and water retention to promote healthy root growth.

This is our recommended soil mixture for most outdoor bonsai trees excluding Azalea and is as close as possible to a general purpose mix. You may find this soil mix too free-draining for very small bonsai trees but for pots larger than about 16cm wide it is great. For smaller trees than this, you may want to add more organic material, some compost or more rotted pine bark to the mix to increase water retention.
